Job description

The Role

As an Equipment Management Engineer, you will be assisting the governance activity to ensure the project delivers against corporate LCM, Engineering, and Product Safety policies.

This role will provide you with a range of development opportunities as this is a growing area of the business.

Your main responsibilities as an Equipment Management Engineer will involve:

  • Provide technical documentation for a variety of Bid activities, including answering technical questions in support of the tender, producing draft engineering plans, providing supporting documentation for the Technical Bid review pack.
  • Support the Engineering and Product Safety tasks for the Equipment Management Project
  • Where applicable provide advice and guidance on engineering and product safety, ensuring consistency in the approach and delivery across the different projects and bids.
  • Provide evidence for compliance with MOD mandated Engineering governance, and Product Safety & Environmental systems.
  • Participate in reviews of proposed Post Design Service tasking with engineers and project managers to assess maturity of requirements, risk, and Product Safety argument, prior to their submission.
  • To develop and promote the sharing of safety knowledge, experience and best-practice across the Equipment Management team.
  • To support the activities related to the Equipment Management programme-specific PSEMP and Hazard Log.

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

  • Knowledge of technical management documentation required through all phases of LCM
  • Knowledge of design support activities including the ability to conduct engineering assessments
  • Understanding of ship safety management systems
  • Awareness of general Legal and Regulatory safety requirements
  • Commercial awareness related to estimating costs based on engineering experience in the equipment management space
  • Working within a team and being able to liaise with different levels of seniority

Desirable:

  • Experience of mechanical and electrical systems on RN Platforms or Army support equipment, especially repair, maintenance and integration of systems and equipment
  • Engineering experience within similar industries such as Aerospace, Commercial Marine
  • Understanding of how MOD equipment and materials are procured.
  • Preferably HNC or equivalent level qualification in an engineering subject or relevant experience in a similar environment

Clearance Requirements & Eligibility - SC Only No ITAR (start on BPSS)

This role will require you to hold or be eligible to obtain Security Clearance (SC). You will need to obtain a BPSS check as part of this process. You must be eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship and have lived and worked in the UK for a minimum 5 year period. The Umbrella rate quoted above is the Gross Umbrella rate (i.e. the rate we pay to the Umbrella Company inclusive of ALL employment costs). Please note, the rate paid by the Umbrella will be less, as will a Limited Deemed rate or Agency PAYE rate. Please get in touch to discuss the rates via these different payment vehicles.
