Job description
The Role
We are looking for an experienced Network Designer to join our established teams and work closely with our customers on their secure systems and services. Using cutting edge commercial and military technologies, you will design and help develop the solutions for the operational environment. Our Defence Digital customer plays a pivotal role within the MoDs Strategic Command organisation, working on some of the world's innovative network solutions to respond to today's threats. Within our Defence Information business, we work closely with our customer to ensure that our customers' needs are achieved, responding with the right solutions on time and within budget.
Your main responsibilities would include,
- Understanding and interpreting customer requirements;
- Creation of high level and detailed network designs;
- Developing an understanding of existing commercial, military networks and communications;
- Innovate and push the boundaries to create new and novel network related products;
- Develop network designs into prototypes and deliverable solutions;
- Production of technical network documentation and drawings;
- Support to product lifecycles, including verification, validation and product compliance;
- Support to planning and estimating;
- Management of technical risks;
Skills & Qualifications(some of):
- Track record of Enterprise, Project, System or Product level network designs;
- Secure network solutions, including use of CIS Benchmarks, NCSC, DISA STIG and JSP;
- Cisco range of devices, including Nexus, Catalyst, ASA, ISR, ASR, ISE;
- Firewalls, including Juniper, McAfee, Palo Alto
- Crypto devices, including Catapan
- Virtualisation technologies such as VMware VCF and NSX;
- Network monitoring tools and management, such as SolarWinds;
- VPN Connectivity, such as IPsec, SSL, L2TP, MPLS and DMVPN;
- System Engineering tools and processes
Desirable Skills:
- Comms Links including Data Links, 3G, 4G, 5G, Satellite, Terrestrial and Bearers;
- Software Defined Radios (SDR) experience;
- Familiarity of MOD networking programmes, theatre connectivity and global connectivity;
- Connectivity on the move;
- Commercial and military SATCOM solutions
Qualifications:
- Ideally degree qualification in related (STEM) subject or equivalent experience; Security Clearance or willingness to obtain
Clearance Requirements & Eligibility
SC + ITAR - This role will require the person to hold full Security Clearance (SC) prior to working onsite. You will need to obtain a Criminal Record Check and you must currently hold or be eligible and willing to obtain SC. In addition, this role involves direct access to ITAR Material, therefore we can only consider UK Nationals for this position. The Umbrella rate quoted above is the Gross Umbrella rate (i.e. the rate we pay to the Umbrella Company inclusive of ALL employment costs).
