Job description
The Design Engineer will be responsible for creating and overseeing the development of designs, ensuring they meet specifications and project requirements. The ideal candidate will have relevant design experience and comprehensive knowledge of design principles and ideally construction methodologies.
Reporting to the Principal Design Engineer, this role will be responsible for:
Involvement in the design and development of innovative products from concept to installation including component/system specification, definition, prototyping, manufacture, testing, and installation.
Producing drawings, specifications and technical reports which may include performance and failure investigation for a wide variety of products.
Assessment of technical, time and material requirements for the preparation of customer quotations.
Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to gather input, review design concepts, and incorporate necessary adjustments or revisions.
Evaluate and select appropriate materials, building systems, and construction methods to ensure solutions are safe, durable, and achieve the desired design intent.
Developing your own knowledge and ability.
Continuous improvement activities to support business growth.
Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes to continuously improve design practices and enhance construction efficiency.
Keeping senior management up to date on project status and progress.
The successful candidate will be qualified to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline and must be able to demonstrate the following:
Proficient in the use of 3D CAD systems (Siemens NX, Autodesk Suite or similar).
A high degree of initiative and strong problem-solving capability.
Demonstrable practical manufacturing or assembly experience.
The ability to work independently and contribute effectively as a member of a high-performance team.
Attention to detail and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
