Job description

The Sub Agent is responsible for the safe, within budget and timely delivery for a particular area of works of Portal Buildings and Pumping Stations as assigned by the Construction Manager. The Sub Agent responsibilities includes the management of the site team including subcontractors and the supervision of the construction works in accordance with the contract requirements and ensuring that the Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental standards are adhered to. This role includes the following duties

  • Manage the development of the scope of works
  • Lead the preparation for the delivery of the works, including resources, procurement, access, and construction pre-start readiness documentation.
  • Manage, coordinate, and supervise the day-to-day site works from construction to close out and ensure the works are performed to the contract requirements.
  • Manage, supervise, train and mentor the site team members to ensure high levels of control and promote their competencies development.
  • Monitor the site supervision including subcontractors' performance and make sure that the subcontractors/site team members have a regular common objective of achievement.
  • Manage the internal and external interfaces with regards to the execution of the works

· Advise and assist the commercial team in the preparation of all necessary contractual notices and instructions (under NEC contract)

  • Review, approve and manage the correct implementation of Method Statements Risk Assessments, and undertake periodic reviews.
  • Prepare Temporary Works Design Briefs and Coordinate Temporary Works on site
  • Carry out Visitors Induction and be able to undertake incident investigations / accident review
  • Maintain a full and accurate daily site diary, including any changes, subcontractors' attendance, records of work and dialogue with subcontractors, client, project team and other stakeholders.

  • Ensure the progress of works are in accordance with the programme, contract, and design requirements
  • Contribute actively to the delivery of Permanent and Temporary Works Design
  • Implement and assure compliance with all relevant technical and contractual requirements, especially with regards to Health & Safety and Environment
  • Develop detailed construction programme for the area of works. And, then review of subcontractors programmes and coordination of works into the lookahead programme
  • Monitor actual programme, productivity achieved, report reasons for difference, and identify any improvement to mitigate delay and maximize opportunity.

  • Ensure that the Inspection and Test Plans are being implemented, reviewed, and approved by Site Team
  • Ensure Subcontractors and Site Team complete the required quality control and maintain a comprehensive filing system of quality records aligned to the Project Quality requirements.

· Proven experience in managing subcontractors and working with a major contractor

· Excellent team player and team leader, reporting progress to the Project Manager / Construction Manager

· Highly organised with good management and coordination skills

· Strong on technical details and with good communication skills

· Working knowledge of CDM 2015 Regulations and current legislation and standards associated with all engineering aspects

· BBV behaviours, respecting equality and diversity

· Essential SMSTS minimum qualified. Temporary Works Supervisor desired.

The following qualities/experience are desirable:

· Minimum 10 years relevant experience

· Large scale project experience (e.g. rail, buildings…).

· Negotiation and issue resolution skills

· Good Digital Skills
