Job description

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Civil Engineer with expertise in infrastructure, drainage, Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS), flood risk assessment, and highways. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in design work using Microdrainage, Infradrainage, Civil3D, and AutoCAD. This role will involve working on a variety of projects such as car parks, roads, and flood-risk assessments, often in collaboration with local authorities. The candidate must possess excellent technical skills, be adept at writing reports, and preferably be chartered, although this is not mandatory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake detailed design work for infrastructure projects including roads, car parks, and drainage systems.
  • Conduct comprehensive flood risk assessments and incorporate appropriate mitigation measures into project designs.
  • Collaborate with local authorities and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Utilize software tools such as Microdrainage, Infradrainage, Civil3D, and AutoCAD to develop detailed designs and engineering drawings.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and project teams.
  • Prepare and present reports, feasibility studies, and design proposals to clients and regulatory bodies.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. A master's degree is desirable but not essential.
  • Good amount of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on infrastructure, drainage, SuDS, and highways.
  • Proficiency in design software such as Microdrainage, Infradrainage and AutoCAD.
  • Strong understanding of flood risk assessment methodologies and relevant regulations.
  • Experience in designing levels for roads, car parks, and other infrastructure projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear and concise reports.
  • Chartered status with a relevant professional institution (e.g., ICE, CIWEM) is advantageous.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines effectively.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to problem-solving, with a keen attention to detail.
