Principal Transport Planner - Birmingham - Up to £55k

Are you an experienced and ambitious Transport Planner seeking a leadership role? Join our clients' team as a Principal Transport Planner and play a pivotal role in shaping transportation in the vibrant landscape of Birmingham City Centre.

Our client is a well-established Transportation specialist with a strong reputation for the work they carry out across the Transport Planning field. Due to their growing success, they are looking for a talent individual to join their modern offices situated in Central Birmingham, with excellent access to major rail stations, the metro, and high-frequency bus routes. This client offers a flat management structure and a truly collaborative environment where ideas and knowledge are shared to achieve successful outcomes for their clients.

Key responsibilities:

  • Prepare Transport Notes, Statements, Assessments, Travel Plans, and Site Access Appraisals.
  • Apply an understanding of relevant local and national policies and guidance.
  • Utilize Junctions software (ARCADY and PICADY) and LinSig for traffic signal design.
  • Work on preliminary design projects using AutoCAD for access, junction improvements, and highways schemes.
  • Create high-quality graphics using GIS packages and/or Corel Draw.
  • Gain exposure to Project Management and client communication.


Idea candidate:

  • Proven experience in development transport planning.
  • Membership or pursuit of professional memberships such as CIHT or ICE.
  • Precision and attention to detail.
  • Strong work ethic and initiative.
  • Formal education in Civil Engineering, Geography, or Transport Planning.
