Our client, a large Aerospace and Defence supplier is looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join them on an initial 5 month contract at their site in Basildon.

• Due to the nature of the role, we are only able to consider applicants who are eligible for SC Clearance.
• 5 month initial contract.
• Predominately remote working with visits to Basildon when required.

Job Description:

We are currently looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join the Precision Guidance Integrated Project Team (IPT) on a short term contract to assist with the design and documentation for the next generation of Missile Seeker.

The successful candidate will be experienced in the Airborne and Defence Industry and MUST be eligible to hold BPSS/SC Security status.

The Mechanical Engineer role offers hybrid working, with the option of on-site working at our Basildon (Essex) office. The frequency of on-site visits shall be agreed with the IPT, to ensure that key Milestones and Deliverables are met on time, to budget and to the desired quality.

Skill and Knowledge:

• Skilled in use of PTC Creo application Essential
• Experience in creation of Bill of Materials (BOM) using a PLM system (e.g. Teamcenter Unified). Essential
• Experience in using Teamcenter Unified, Desirable
• Experienced within design of electronics enclosures to meet environmental and EMC requirements. Desirable
• Knowledgeable in the design of opto-mechanical sub-assemblies Desirable
• Knowledge of Cable Harness design, including Connector selection, screening, strain relief methods, etc. Desirable
• Demonstrable experience in producing numerical calculations, tolerance studies to support design solutions Desirable
• Working knowledge of BS8888 and GD&T Essential
• Experienced in various aspects of DfX, including Manufacturing, Assembly, Test, Integration and Sustainability. Essential
• Strong communication skills and experience of working as part of an Integrated Project Team (IPT). Essential
• Proficient in working autonomously to achieve compliant solutions Essential
• Ability to cope with a high degree of design complexity and significant levels of uncertainty Desirable
