Job description

Leading engineering company whose work has a important and positive impact on the public's daily lives is seeking to employ a number of Assistant Planners to join their team in either Bury St. Edmunds or Colchester.

If you have experience of using Primavera P6 or MS Project in a construction environment and would enjoy working for a company that are focused on tackling climate change and making the UK a greener place then this is a great job for you! Job Purpose


The Assistant Planner will support the Lead Planners and delivery teams by collecting progress data and updating schedules. You will work across portfolios to provide targeted effort where demand dictates. Additionally, you will perform data integrity checks, identify missing or incorrect project data, and assist in improving data hygiene in project management tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Learn and improve own capability in project management tools, with a focus on Primavera P6
  • Maintain schedules and consistency with approved project frameworks
  • Provide accurate programme data to meet project control requirements
  • Maintain currency of programme plans and schedules
  • Integrate approved changes into baseline updates
  • Support other planners in overseeing progressing programmes
  • Work with project teams to ensure submission of progress updates
  • Flag any schedule anomalies and obtain support from project teams

Job Requirements


To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Experience with work scheduling for construction projects
  • Knowledge of project management tools, such as Primavera P6 or MS Project
  • Familiarity with database and data organization principles
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Proficiency in standard office software, including Project, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook


In return you will receive a salary of circa £35,000 (dependant on experience) accompanied with an annual bonus, healthy annual leave entitlement, pension and other very attractive benefits.
