Job description
Introduction
Local Authority client is currently seeking a skilled Building Control Surveyor to join their team. This contract position as a Class 2 Building Inspector offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development and maintenance of high-quality construction standards. Please note that this role falls outside IR35.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting thorough inspections of building projects to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Reviewing construction plans, drawings, and specifications to identify any discrepancies or non-compliance issues.
- Providing professional advice and guidance to developers, architects, and contractors on building regulations and compliance requirements.
- Issuing Building Control Notices or Orders if necessary, and monitoring compliance with such notices.
- Monitoring and assessing the progress and quality of construction work.
- Completing comprehensive reports and maintaining accurate records of inspections and enforcement actions.
- Collaborating with other professionals, including engineers and architects, to resolve compliance issues and ensure the safe and efficient completion of building projects.
- Keeping up-to-date with changes in legislation and industry best practices.
Job Requirements
- Significant experience in Building Control, ideally as a Building Control Surveyor or Inspector.
- Thorough knowledge of relevant building regulations and standards.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail when reviewing plans and conducting inspections.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide clear and concise advice to stakeholders.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to make informed decisions.
- Exceptional organisational and time management skills to effectively manage multiple projects.
- Relevant qualifications and certifications in Building Control or a related discipline (e.g., Building Control Level 4 Diploma).
