Job description


Our client, a leading Defence & Security company, is seeking a Security Controller to join their team. As a Security Controller, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of personnel security clearance activities and processes in accordance with policies, procedures, customer requirements, and relevant standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and deliver security campaigns to educate staff and foster a strong security culture across the company.
  2. Organize external training programs and, when necessary, create and deliver personnel security training packages to educate staff and promote a positive security culture.
  3. Support the Protective Security Lead with security accreditations and audits, both internal and external, and take the lead on Personnel Security specific accreditations to ensure compliance with mandated policies and standards.
  4. Advise and support key stakeholders on personnel security matters, including international travel, pre-employment screening, clearances, and access control, ensuring compliance with all relevant standards.
  5. Identify and escalate security risks and issues to the Protective Security Lead and provide support during incident investigation and response.
  6. Manage international travel security aspects for the staff, including security briefings, visit requests, and other Defence Industry requirements.
  7. Oversee and conduct the technical programming of the companies access passes, implementing procedural updates to the ISMS policy regarding all areas of personnel security.
  8. Coordinate the delivery of National Security Vetting processes, including new applications, transfers/shares, aftercare, and international equivalencies.
  9. Supervise the pre-employment screening process to ensure compliance with government policy.
  10. Design and implement personnel security policies and procedures to meet the relevant standards.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in government or other regulated industries, specifically in security and vetting processes.
  • Understanding of baseline security requirements and the ability to provide evidence of identity and eligibility to work in the UK.
