Job description

Project Description: The VESU (Ventilation Extract System Upgrade) project involves process engineering work to support the completion of the Apprise and Select design phases, as well as ongoing activities during the define phase. This project, within the SNM (Special Nuclear Material) value stream, aims to refurbish/replace the deteriorated and outdated ventilation system serving multiple FGFL facilities on the Sellafield site. The objective is to enable continued operation of the ventilation system through a new dedicated stack for several decades. Besides addressing nuclear flowsheeting concerns, the project also tackles liquor management issues and provides necessary services.

Project Description: The PPF project aims to establish a facility for safely releasing gas from potentially pressurised packages of SNM, managing potential hydrogen and contamination hazards. This entails accommodating both high and low-pressure packages within a new glovebox, as well as providing the capability to decant and sort the package contents. The glovebox will be inerted using a new nitrogen supply. Currently, the project is in the detail design phase.

Role Description: Leading an existing and expanding team involved in two projects within the SNM area, focusing on:

• Flowsheeting of aerial and liquid effluents
• Characterization of liquid effluents
• Management of chemical, DSEAR, and radiological hazards
• Designing liquor removal systems
• Defining waste routes
• Engaging with waste route owners, environmental specialists, and other key stakeholders

Role Description: Leading an existing and expanding team involved in two projects within the SNM area, focusing on:

• Managing chemical, DSEAR, chemotoxic, and radiological hazards
• Developing a nitrogen inerting system
• Collaborating with specialist supply chain
• Engaging with SNM Technical team
• Engaging with key stakeholders
• Identifying and managing key project risks
