Job description
Our client, a leading company in the power utilities and energy sector, is currently seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team in various locations in Edinbrugh.
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will lead the cost management and contractual aspects of projects, providing expertise and guidance to ensure successful project delivery. This role requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in quantity surveying, strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage complex projects from inception to completion. Senior Quantity Surveyors play a crucial role in maximising project profitability while maintaining high standards of quality and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the preparation of accurate cost estimates and detailed project budgets.
- Monitor project costs throughout the lifecycle, identifying cost-saving opportunities and managing variances.
- Provide strategic advice on cost planning and procurement strategies to optimise project outcomes.
- Manage the preparation, negotiation, and administration of construction contracts, including variations, claims, and disputes.
- Ensure contracts are compliant with legal and regulatory requirements, as well as client specifications.
- Oversee the tendering process, including the preparation of tender documents, evaluation of bids, and selection of suppliers and subcontractors.
- Develop and implement cost control measures to ensure projects are delivered within budgetary constraints.
- Identify and assess risks associated with projects and develop risk mitigation strategies.
- Provide leadership and guidance to project teams in managing risks effectively.
Job Requirements:
- Experience in dealing with DNO / Power / Renewable Energy projects or frameworks
- Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, construction management, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in quantity surveying, including a proven track record of managing complex construction projects.
- NEC Contract experience
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement processes, and cost management principles.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office suite.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to solve problems and make informed decisions.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
