Job description
Our client, a distinguished player in the manufacturing and engineering sector, is currently seeking a Principal Engineer to join their team in Fareham. This permanent role involves being the technical authority within the operations and production domains, particularly focusing on the design and performance of their product range.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage engineering production support activities ensuring efficient processing of concessions, production permits, source changes, and the incorporation of corrective/preventative actions.
- Analyse variations to specifications and engineering drawings affecting part form, fit, and function, including performing tolerance, stress, and metallurgical analysis.
- Support design assurance activities such as design reviews, MRB, and approval of Engineering documents.
- Manage regulatory activities (e.g., REACH) and obsolescence activities impacting product design, ensuring specification compliance.
- Support project development teams ensuring the technical integrity of products.
- Attend and contribute to design reviews.
- Support and lead the resolution of problem reports, FRACAS, or customer technical issues through root cause analysis tools and processes.
- Support the mentoring and development of the engineering team.
Job Requirements:
- Degree/HND/HNC in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience in mechanical engineering.
- Full driving licence.
- Understanding of engineering materials and production methods, including machining, light fabrication, assembly, and surface treatments.
- Experience liaising with customers and suppliers.
Tools/Equipment Used:
- Office 365, MS Project.
- TK Solver, MathCAD.
- QPulse.
