Job description
Job Title: Design Engineer
Workplace: Hybrid
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday
Travel Requirements: Occasional travel may be required.
Salary: Ranges between £40 - £70k per annum, depending on level of the role and your experience.
Role Introduction:
We're working with our leading Aerospace client to help them hire a number of experienced Design Engineers (from Senior to Principal) to join their team in Gloucester.
In this role, you'll design and detail efficient landing gear systems for both civil and military aircraft, making sure they meet demanding customer requirements. The role also involves supporting the design and manufacturing of landing gear systems throughout their entire lifecycle.
My Key Tasks:
You'll support all aspects of concept to detailed design throughout the lifecycle of landing gear programs, contributing to product configuration management. You'll use advanced technologies such as CAD, 3D modelling, 2D draughting, and data management systems, to design systems that meet customer specifications and industry standards. Alongside this, you'll deliver technical presentations to customers where needed.
Collaboration is key, as you'll work closely with team members, chief engineers, program management, and manufacturing. You will also liaise with colleagues across various sites to minimise product non-conformances and coordinate the offloading of work packages to other locations.
You'll work towards achieving Design Check Signatory status while mentoring and coaching junior team members to help them develop their skills.
Essential Experience & Skills for this role:
You'll be comfortable working in both traditional and computerized design and analysis methods, along with excellent communication skills (verbal and written), and a familiarity with CAD (preferably CATIA V5, with training provided). Knowledge of configuration management is also important.
Qualifications
Minimum HNC/HND level, ideally BSc/MSc, in an engineering discipline.
Desirable
- Previous aerospace experience.
- Work package ownership experience.
- GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) training.
- Knowledge of aerospace materials and manufacturing processes.
What's in it for me:
As a valued member of our team, you'll be entitled to a range of company benefits, including:
- 25 days holiday + UK Bank Holidays, plus the option to buy/sell annual leave
- Early finishes on Fridays!
