Job description
This team primarily serves the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD), contributing to underwater superiority worldwide. The team manages the system design, build, and procurement of essential electronic and complex software systems for submarines, alongside providing test, integration, and support services.
This permanent role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile submarine engineering programmes, interacting with various stakeholders including the Ministry of Defence. Relocation support packages are available for eligible candidates across all Submarines roles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Working to recognised industry standards to produce innovative, high-quality software products
- Engaging in all aspects of the software development cycle within a multi-disciplined team, utilising various tools and programming languages
- Taking responsibility for both personal and team contributions, and providing technical assistance to support junior team members
- Leading during assurance and review activities, ensuring adherence to relevant standards for configuration, release, and documentation activities
- Translating requirements into software designs, implementing and testing solutions, and managing integration, configuration, release, and deployment of the product
Job Requirements:
- Degree in Software Engineering, Instrumentation and Control Engineering, or a related subject
- Chartered status with a relevant professional institution or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of one or more software development lifecycles (e.g., Agile, Waterfall)
- Experience with Siemens TIA Portal
- Experience in leading small software teams or being a technical specialist within a software team
