Job Title: Mechanical Maintenance Technician

Location: London (North Pole)
Contract: Permanent | Full-time

The Opportunity

We're looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Technician(Product Support Engineer - Rail) to support maintenance, fault‑finding and repair of rail products in a safety‑critical environment.

This role suits a hands‑on, mechanically biased engineer who enjoys problem‑solving, working with modern maintenance systems, and contributing to continuous improvement.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Carry out preventative, scheduled and reactive maintenance
  • Diagnose faults and complete repairs using technical drawings and guides
  • Complete accurate service and maintenance documentation
  • Track parts usage to support stock control
  • Support continuous improvement of maintenance processes
  • Maintain high HSQE standards at all times
  • Use IT systems for diagnostics, reporting and maintenance tracking
  • Attend customer meetings and support sign‑off where required
  • Maintain clean, safe and organised work areas
  • Support other depots when required

What You'll Need to Succeed

Essential:

  • Mechanical engineering background (electrical knowledge beneficial)
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Experience in maintenance, repair or overhaul environments
  • Strong safety awareness
  • Ability to read technical drawings and documentation
  • Confident using IT systems (Word, Excel, email)

Desirable:

  • Experience with train diesel engines
  • Background in automotive (engine/powertrain) or aircraft maintenance
  • Experience in rail or heavy engineering environments (training provided for systems)
