Our client, a global leader in Remote Tower and Digital Airport solutions within the technology and aviation sector, is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer for their dynamic team in Ottawa. The successful applicant will work in a fast-paced environment, collaborating closely with the Chief Architect and Lead Developers to design and deliver innovative technologies that enhance the safety and efficiency of airport operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define solution requirements and specifications in collaboration with project stakeholders
  • Install, configure, and test operating systems, application software, and system management tools at project sites
  • Support Solution Architects in specifying system design, development, and deployment requirements
  • Monitor and test application performance, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate with developers for fixes
  • Manage product requirements, prevent scope creep, and recommend Change Orders collaboratively with stakeholders
  • Write and deliver technical, operational, and training documentation compliant with QA processes
  • Research new hardware/software solutions and methods to improve system performance
  • Act as an agent of change in continuous improvement initiatives and the development of formal methodologies
  • Participate concurrently in multiple projects in diverse global markets
  • Support ongoing and prospective sales opportunities

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, or a solid technical background delivering complex computer-based solutions
  • Experience in IT, Computer Systems Engineering, or Systems Engineering and Analysis
  • Significant hands-on experience in managing and delivering systems development and integration projects
  • Eligibility for government-level security clearance, with a keen understanding of confidentiality and compliance
  • Proven track record in project delivery from inception to deployment, meeting timelines and quality standards
  • Expertise in the V-Model development lifecycle, including systems engineering processes and verification/validation activities
  • Extensive experience with Windows, UNIX, and Linux-based environments
  • Strong networking fundamentals, including OSI model layers, TCP/IP protocols, DNS, and DHCP
  • Knowledge of Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly learn new technologies and resolve complex technical issues
  • Outstanding communication skills for explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Exceptional organisational and time management abilities
  • Ability to travel internationally for extended periods, up to 30-40% of the time
