Manufacturing & Inspection Auditor

Location: Leamington Spa (On-site)
Shift: Primarily day shift, with occasional night/weekend auditing

We're supporting a high-performance engineering organisation based in Leamington Spa that is looking to appoint a Manufacturing & Inspection Auditor into a hands-on quality role.

This position would suit an experienced Senior Component Inspector from a low-volume precision engineering environment who enjoys ownership, autonomy, and influencing quality standards across a manufacturing operation.


The Role

Reporting into the Head of Compliance, you'll play a key role in ensuring inspection capability across the manufacturing and quality teams. You'll be responsible for auditing inspection activities, verifying competency, and ensuring the correct use of measurement equipment - supporting a strong right‑first‑time and continuous improvement culture.

This is a visible, trusted role with the autonomy to shape audit strategy and drive quality improvements across the function.


Key Responsibilities

  • Audit the inspection capability of manufacturing technicians and inspectors to ensure consistent standards
  • Own and maintain an effective audit plan, adapting it based on findings and operational priorities
  • Carry out regular capability assessments, including weekly reviews of new starters
  • Produce weekly audit reports and maintain an up-to-date inspection capability matrix
  • Recommend appropriate audit frequencies based on performance and quality escapes
  • Act as a technical reference point within the Quality and Manufacturing teams
  • Support continuous improvement of inspection processes and quality KPIs

About You

Essential experience:

  • Senior Inspector background within a precision-machined, batch manufacturing environment
  • Fully conversant with engineering drawings and GD&T
  • Strong experience in product and process auditing
  • Confident holding peers accountable while maintaining positive working relationships
  • Detail-driven, objective, and comfortable influencing quality culture

Desirable experience:

  • Inspection of low-volume precision machined steels and castings
  • Knowledge of gears and gear geometry
  • Strong computer literacy
  • Proactive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement

Additional Information

  • Based on-site in Leamington Spa
  • Predominantly day shift
  • Occasional auditing of night and weekend shifts (around once per month)
  • Minimal travel, with occasional site support if required
  • No regular customer-facing responsibili
