Our client, a prominent entity in the Defence & Security sector, is seeking a Process Engineer on a contract basis. This role will be based in Glascoed and represents an excellent opportunity to work within a multi-disciplined team involved in the design, manufacture, and support of new products. The role is integral to the development of manufacturing processes from concept through to commissioning and qualification.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop new manufacturing processes, ensuring solutions are robust, timely, cost-effective, and meet customer expectations.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standard controls, including Lean Principles, Process Control Plans, PFMEAs, and awareness of PLC and Visual Management Systems on automated lines.
  • Specify and qualify new equipment, working closely with suppliers to meet deadlines and regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate development activities to establish supporting data for manufacturing processes, ensuring a sound understanding of materials and technology.
  • Manage project data files, capturing process and design information, controlled through the company's Product Lifecycle Management system.
  • Develop a network of capable suppliers in collaboration with other engineering personnel and functions.
  • Lead and support project activities, including process reviews, capability studies, and implementation of Safe System of Work.
  • Presenting process status updates to line management and other stakeholders (KPIs, verbal, and written).
  • Stay informed of manufacturing technologies and assist in developing future technology plans to support company objectives.

Job Requirements:


Essential

  • Minimum HNC/HND in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Chemical, or equivalent.
  • Understanding of project/risk management and associated tools and techniques.
  • Awareness of automated controls in process lines.
  • Strong technical and manufacturing background, initiative, and ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, professional individual with good planning and organisational skills.
  • Proactive and flexible in a driven environment.
  • Ability to prioritise a varying workload while maintaining high standards and meeting deadlines.
  • Competent in using Microsoft Office and other computer applications.


Desirable

  • Experience in materials processing and manufacturing in a high hazard environment.
  • IOSH Managing Safety / NEBOSH Certificate.
  • Green Belt Six Sigma certification.
