We are working with a leading consultancy to recruit a Project Engineer/Design Manager with a strong Electrical design background, ideally with exposure to renewable energy projects such as solar PV, to support a major programme of works at a major UK airport.
This role will form part of a wider infrastructure and terminal expansion programme, delivering a range of projects within a live, operational environment. The successful candidate will contribute to innovative and sustainable engineering solutions across multiple concurrent schemes.


Key Responsibilities


Your core duties will include:

  • Leading and supporting the design and technical delivery of electrical-focused infrastructure projects
  • Defining project scope, requirements and design briefs, ensuring alignment with programme and business objectives
  • Providing technical assurance on electrical design outputs, ensuring compliance with standards and operational requirements
  • Coordinating external consultants and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality design solutions
  • Supporting delivery of electrical and energy-related systems, including renewable technologies such as solar PV (where applicable)
  • Driving safe, efficient and cost-effective design outcomes, considering operational constraints and sustainability goals
  • Supporting design integration and change control throughout the project lifecycle
  • Working closely with delivery teams to ensure construction aligns with design intent, quality and programme requirements
  • Facilitating design reviews, approvals and governance processes
  • Supporting stakeholder engagement across engineering, operational and commercial teams
  • Contributing to testing, commissioning and handover, ensuring systems are fully operational and compliant
  • Ensuring compliance with health & safety regulations, CDM 2015 and relevant technical standards
  • Supporting the application of NEC3 / NEC4 contracts in project delivery

Candidate Profile

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Proven experience as a Project Engineer or Electrical Design Engineer
  • Strong background in electrical engineering and design, ideally within infrastructure or construction
  • Experience working on renewable energy projects, such as solar PV (highly desirable)
  • Strong understanding of design processes and project lifecycle (RIBA or equivalent)
  • Experience working in operational or complex environments
  • Ability to develop design briefs and define project requirements
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills

Desirable Experience

  • Experience in design management or design coordination roles
  • Knowledge of NEC3 / NEC4 contracts
  • Understanding of CDM Regulations and construction compliance requirements
  • Chartered status or working towards (IET or equivalent)
  • Experience in large infrastructure or complex asset environments (aviation experience not required)

Qualifications

  • Degree-qualified (or equivalent) in:
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Building Services Engineering
    • Or a related discipline
