Purchasing Assistant (Contract)
Location: Southampton, UK
Pay: Up to £15 per hour (depending on experience)
Contract: Full-time, ongoing contract.
About the Role
We are looking for a Purchasing Assistant to support a busy supply chain team within a manufacturing environment. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to develop or build on their experience in procurement and supply chain operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and manage purchase orders for both production and non-production items
- Track and chase supplier deliveries to ensure timely supply
- Maintain accurate delivery dates and supplier information in internal systems
- Liaise with internal teams regarding order status and supplier performance
- Support stock control, replenishment, and invoice reconciliation
- Assist with supplier communication, including cost, lead time, and payment discussions
- Provide support for new product introduction and supplier changes
- Maintain and update data within ERP systems
- Support reporting on supplier performance and spending
- Carry out general purchasing tasks, including office supplies and expense reconciliation
Skills & Experience
- Previous purchasing or procurement experience is helpful but not essential
- Experience in an office or manufacturing environment is advantageous
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
- Strong numerical and data-handling skills
