Our client, a leading international consultancy in the engineering sector, is currently seeking a Sustainable Drainage Engineer to join their growing Transport & Infrastructure team. Based in either Manchester or Mold, this permanent role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to diverse and impactful projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver project outputs in line with client specifications and relevant standards
- Prepare and review technical documentation, including drainage strategies and Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs)
- Liaise with clients, authorities, and third parties
- Lead project delivery for your discipline, including delegation and supervision of junior staff
- Review and approve designs, including those prepared by others
- Support contract administration and post-completion activities where required
- Contribute to programme management, ensuring delivery to time and quality expectations
- Maintain strong collaboration within the wider team
Job Requirements:
Essential:
- BEng in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) or a relevant degree with water/flood risk experience
- Experience working with key stakeholders such as Local Planning Authorities, LLFAs, and the Environment Agency
- Strong experience preparing Flood Risk Assessments and drainage strategies
- Ability to manage project delivery and maintain client relationships
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations and Health & Safety in design
- Experience working in fast-paced infrastructure or design environments
- Proficiency in industry-standard software (e.g. MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage, Causeway Flow, AutoCAD)
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing deadlines
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
Desirable:
- MEng or MSc in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
- Professional membership (ICE, CIHT, CIWEM, or similar)
- Experience managing project budgets and financial performance
- Knowledge of BIM principles and Common Data Environments (e.g. SharePoint)
- Experience with utility coordination and clash detection
- Understanding of UK planning policy (NPPF and Planning Practice Guidance)
- Experience with SAB applications and Flood Risk Activity Permits (FRAPs)
- Ability to interpret hydrological and hydraulic modelling outputs
