Our client, a leading international consultancy in the engineering sector, is currently seeking a Sustainable Drainage Engineer to join their growing Transport & Infrastructure team. Based in either Manchester or Mold, this permanent role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to diverse and impactful projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver project outputs in line with client specifications and relevant standards
  • Prepare and review technical documentation, including drainage strategies and Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs)
  • Liaise with clients, authorities, and third parties
  • Lead project delivery for your discipline, including delegation and supervision of junior staff
  • Review and approve designs, including those prepared by others
  • Support contract administration and post-completion activities where required
  • Contribute to programme management, ensuring delivery to time and quality expectations
  • Maintain strong collaboration within the wider team

Job Requirements:

Essential:

  • BEng in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) or a relevant degree with water/flood risk experience
  • Experience working with key stakeholders such as Local Planning Authorities, LLFAs, and the Environment Agency
  • Strong experience preparing Flood Risk Assessments and drainage strategies
  • Ability to manage project delivery and maintain client relationships
  • Knowledge of CDM Regulations and Health & Safety in design
  • Experience working in fast-paced infrastructure or design environments
  • Proficiency in industry-standard software (e.g. MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage, Causeway Flow, AutoCAD)
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing deadlines
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills

Desirable:

  • MEng or MSc in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Professional membership (ICE, CIHT, CIWEM, or similar)
  • Experience managing project budgets and financial performance
  • Knowledge of BIM principles and Common Data Environments (e.g. SharePoint)
  • Experience with utility coordination and clash detection
  • Understanding of UK planning policy (NPPF and Planning Practice Guidance)
  • Experience with SAB applications and Flood Risk Activity Permits (FRAPs)
  • Ability to interpret hydrological and hydraulic modelling outputs
