Our client, a leading UK contractor in the rail industry, is seeking an experienced MEP Technical (Mechanical) Manager to support the delivery of an internalised MEP strategy. This approach focuses on reducing reliance on external supply chains, improving quality, enhancing safety standards, and strengthening programme control.

Key Responsibilities:

Design & Engineering Leadership

  • Lead the delivery and coordination of mechanical MEP design information
  • Collaborate with designers and BIM teams to maximise value and reduce risk
  • Ensure high-quality, compliant engineering solutions are delivered

Strategic & Business Contribution

  • Contribute to regional strategy, planning, and overall business performance
  • Support internal MEP delivery initiatives and continuous improvement

Stakeholder & Client Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and partners
  • Ensure positive commercial and project outcomes

Team & Resource Management

  • Lead and develop engineering teams, including mentoring and capability growth
  • Manage internal and external resource requirements effectively

Work Winning & Preconstruction

  • Support bid submissions and tender activities
  • Provide technical input during early project stages to secure new work

Health, Safety & Environment

  • Champion high standards of HSE performance
  • Promote a zero-harm culture across all projects

Job Requirements:

  • Strong experience working with a main contractor or large subcontractor
  • Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • In-depth knowledge of Mechanical Building Services (MEP)
  • Proven experience managing and developing teams
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Client-focused with excellent communication skills
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of project delivery
  • Proactive and able to take initiative
