SHE Lead Advisor (Night Shift - Mon-Thurs) - 12 month contract - Govan, Glasgow - £34.22 ph PAYE - Umbrella rate available (Inside IR35)
The Umbrella rate is the Gross Umbrella rate (i.e. the rate we pay to the Umbrella Company inclusive of ALL employment costs). Please note, the rate paid by the Umbrella will be less, as will a Limited Deemed rate or Agency PAYE rate. Please get in touch to discuss the rates via these different payment vehicles.
The Role
The role will support the development and/or deployment of the Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) policy, systems and objectives for the Naval Ships business
The role will be responsible for providing competent SHE advice, systems and assurance to line leaders/manager, enabling them to successfully manage SHE and to achieve company strategic goals.
The role is part of a cross discipline team of SHE professionals working across the Naval Ships sites to deliver specified packages of work/ improvement projects.
The role is to support line leaders/managers to meet their SHE objectives, targets and regulatory requirements through the provision of technical/expert SHE support and advice
The role will support the building of a strong and proactive SHE culture throughout the organisation.
The role is to support and coach key stakeholders to define, develop and implement control strategies that protect our employees, contractors, visitors, local community and natural environment from harm.
Role Responsibilities:

- Support the development, maintenance and/or deployment of a SHE management system (including objectives, processes and assurance) that meet the requirements of BAE Systems Operational Framework and International SHE Standards (such as ISO45001 and ISO14001) and supports the achievement of organisational goals.
- Provide competent and comprehensive SHE advice and support to Line Leaders, enabling them to effectively manage SHE within their area(s) of responsibility.
- Lead activities associated with improving SHE practice and performance, including (but not limited to): deployment and implementation of SHE Policy and Management Systems, SHE objectives and targets, provision of competent SHE advice on risk management and control, collation and provision of SHE performance reports (such as incidents, audits, regulatory issues), investigation and reporting of incidents in accordance with regulatory and/or customer requirements, provision of an effective interface with regulators and representatives dealing with liability issues.
- Support the development and implementation of innovative SHE change programmes, ensuring consistency and effective improvement in SHE risk management and embedding a culture of continuous improvement and the sharing of best practices.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders, influencing them to appropriately consider SHE factors during decision making.
- Provide assurance for determining compliance with relevant legal, BAE Systems Operational Framework and SHE Management System requirements within a business or site(s).
What are BAE Systems looking for from you?
- A minimum of five years post-qualification experience in applying health and safety knowledge and processes in work-related situations
- One or more of the following QCF/NQF Level 5 (or higher) qualifications: NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety; Level 5 NVQ in Occupational Safety and Health Practice; Level 6 NCRQ Diploma in Applied Health and Safety; Safety, Health Honours Degree (Bachelors or Higher). - Chartered membership of an appropriate professional health and safety institution is desirable
