Principal Engineer: Secondary Steel
Location: London or Bristol (Hybrid Working)
An excellent opportunity has become available for a skilled Principal Engineer with expertise in Secondary Steel to join a dynamic offshore wind engineering team.
This role will see you take technical ownership of secondary steel design across major offshore projects, leading from concept through to detailed execution while supporting innovation and high quality engineering delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership on the design and analysis of secondary steel structures, including platforms, ladders, handrails and cable support systems
- Lead design activities from concept through to detailed engineering
- Perform and review structural analysis and calculations
- Ensure designs meet industry standards, safety requirements and project specifications
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions
- Engage with clients and stakeholders to support project delivery
- Mentor and support junior engineers within the team
- Contribute to continuous improvement and innovative design approaches
Requirements
- Degree in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering (or similar)
- Extensive experience in secondary steel design within offshore structures
- Proven background in offshore wind projects, particularly substations and turbine foundations
- Strong knowledge of relevant design standards and structural analysis tools (e.g. SESAM, ANSYS, ABAQUS)
- Experience leading engineering teams and managing design delivery
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Chartered status desirable
Salary
£75,000 - £97,000 depending on experience
