The Opportunity

Are you an experienced E&I Engineer looking to make a defining impact in the rapidly growing data centre sector?

Our client is a premier international water infrastructure specialist and a genuine end-to-end service provider operating across the UK, Ireland, and Northern Europe. Established for over 50 years, they have evolved into a market-leading, net-zero-committed innovator in clean technology and sustainable water infrastructure.

They are now seeking a talented Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Engineer to join their team. In this pivotal role, you will take ownership of the design, commissioning, troubleshooting, and support of sophisticated E&I systems for process water treatment within hyperscale and enterprise data centre environments.

Key Responsibilities

As an integral part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will drive technical excellence across major projects:

  • System Design & Review: Lead the design of electrical and instrumentation systems for cutting-edge water treatment plants and utility systems.
  • Documentation Excellence: Develop and review P&IDs, loop diagrams, cable schedules, and control panel layouts.
  • Instrumentation Integration: Specify and integrate critical field instrumentation, including flow, pressure, level, conductivity, and pH systems.
  • Automation Collaboration: Support PLC/SCADA integration and the development of robust control philosophies.
  • Testing & Commissioning: Take an active role in FAT, SAT, commissioning, and startup activities, troubleshooting complex electrical and control issues.
  • Compliance & Coordination: Ensure total compliance with client specifications and industry standards, collaborating seamlessly across engineering and construction divisions.

What You Will Bring

To succeed in this challenging and rewarding environment, you will have:

  • Education: A Degree or Diploma in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Automation Engineering.
  • Experience: 3 to 8+ years of proven experience in E&I engineering, specifically within industrial or process water treatment systems.
  • Technical Expertise: A deep understanding of instrumentation, process control systems, and PLC/SCADA architecture.
  • Hands-on Capability: Demonstrated experience in commissioning and startup activities.

Desirable (But Not Essential)

  • Experience working within data centres or similar mission-critical environments.
  • Knowledge of reverse osmosis systems, cooling water treatment, and chemical dosing.
  • Familiarity with major automation platforms such as Siemens, Rockwell, or Schneider.
