Our client, a leading entity in the defence and security sector, is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer - NPI to join their team in Swindon. This is an exciting permanent role for someone passionate about advancing unmanned aircraft technology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading readiness activities: building strategy, tooling/fixtures, test approaches, work instructions, training, and capacity planning
- Planning and executing pilot builds; capturing learnings and standardizing work processes
- Owning manufacturing deliverables through readiness reviews and integration plans
- Providing the manufacturing perspective in design reviews to drive practical improvements and reduce risks, build time, and rework
- Creating controlled documentation, including routings, work instructions, standard work, PFMEAs, and control plans
- Translating existing build knowledge into a controlled UK production system
- Removing blockers, leading problem-solving activities, and driving corrective actions to prevent repeat issues
Job Requirements:
- Strong experience in NPI/industrialisation within a regulated manufacturing environment
- Proven track record of moving products from prototype/low-rate into stable production
- Hands-on, practical leadership style and comfort with ambiguity
- Proficiency in Lean/Continuous Improvement and structured problem-solving methods
- Desirable: experience with new facility/cell stand-up, tech transfer, supply chain industrialisation, and Six Sigma
- Eligible for UK SC clearance; BPSS eligible from day one
