Our client, a leading entity in the defence and security manufacturing sector, is currently seeking a Mechanical Inspector to join their quality control team on a contract basis. This role involves ensuring that manufactured items conform to quality and dimensional requirements through advanced inspection techniques and contributing to continuous product improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect and examine assembled, fabricated, machined, and surface-treated parts using 3D scanning technology.
- Perform on-site inspections at supplier locations as required.
- Utilise non-programmable CMM arms to conduct First Article Inspections (training provided).
- Conduct systematic inspections of a variety of mechanical assemblies, ensuring compliance with standards and bills of material.
- Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Lessons Learnt activities to improve product quality.
- Support the Quality Control Team and collaborate with Manufacturing Cells.
- Record inspection status on work orders and log any non-conformities.
- Maintain flexibility in working hours to meet output and customer requirements.
- Generate First Article Inspection Reports and assist the Team Lead with department operations.
Job Requirements:

- Flexibility and willingness to undertake diverse responsibilities.
- Excellent attention to detail with a good working knowledge of Microsoft software packages.
- Experience with manufacturing and inspection techniques.
- Relevant experience within a precision manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and understand detailed engineering drawings.
- Proficiency in using measuring equipment including micrometers, digital calipers, thread, and bore gauges.
