Our client, a prominent player in the aerospace industry, is seeking a Contract Calibration Engineer to join their metrology and calibration team. This role is vital to maintaining the high standards required in aerospace manufacturing, ensuring all measurement equipment is calibrated and compliant with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:


As a member of the Metrology & Calibration department, you will coordinate and execute metrology and calibration activities across the business. Responsibilities include:

  • Determining calibration requirements by reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, procedures, and customer requirements.
  • Ensuring measuring equipment remains calibrated, traceable, and fit for purpose.
  • Maintaining and administering the calibration management database, ensuring accurate records and timely scheduling.
  • Defining calibration intervals, measurement requirements, and traceability needs for equipment.
  • Investigating out-of-tolerance results and assessing potential impact on product quality.
  • Supporting compliance with AS9100, customer requirements, and applicable industry standards.
  • Participating in internal and external audits relating to calibration and measurement systems.
  • Supporting continuous improvement activities to enhance calibration efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.

Job Requirements:


Applicants should possess the following experience, skills, qualifications, and knowledge: Essential

  • Relevant qualification in Engineering, Metrology, Manufacturing, Quality, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in calibration, metrology, or quality engineering within a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of measurement principles, calibration methods, and uncertainty concepts.
  • Experience using calibration management software or database systems.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical procedures.
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

Desirable

  • Experience within aerospace, defence, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, ISO 10012, or ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.
  • Understanding of Measurement System Analysis (MSA) and statistical techniques.
  • Internal auditor qualification or audit experience.
