💷 Rate: Up to £640 per day (Inside IR35 via Umbrella)
The Opportunity
Barclays is looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to join a high-performing technology team supporting the delivery of critical applications and infrastructure across the bank. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a large-scale enterprise environment, helping to drive automation, improve CI/CD processes, and support cloud-native engineering practices.
You'll work closely with development, infrastructure, and security teams to build and maintain robust, scalable, and secure platforms that enable faster and more reliable software delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and support CI/CD pipelines
- Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration management
- Support cloud-based and on-premise environments
- Drive DevOps best practices across development teams
- Monitor and maintain platform performance, availability, and security
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure and deployment issues
- Collaborate with software engineers, architects, and stakeholders to improve delivery processes
- Contribute to infrastructure-as-code and automation initiatives
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong commercial experience within a DevOps Engineering role
- Expertise with CI/CD tooling such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps or similar
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform
- Strong scripting skills using Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar
- Experience with containerisation technologies including Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift
- Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP
- Strong understanding of Linux and distributed systems
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools
- Familiarity with security and compliance best practices within enterprise environments
Desirable
- Previous experience within Financial Services or a highly regulated environment
- Exposure to SRE principles and observability tooling
- Experience supporting large-scale, mission-critical applications
