Full Stack Developer (API / Integration) - Contract (Outside IR35)

We're looking for an experienced Full Stack Developer with strong API / integration delivery experience to join a major programme on a long-term contract.

You'll work closely with the Solution Technical Lead, Business Analysts and Test Management to design, build, document and hand over secure, enterprise-grade RESTful APIs and broader full stack components across the programme.

  • Engagement: Outside IR35 (subject to QDOS assessment)
  • Security Clearance: BPSS / CTC (or ability to obtain)

The Role

Working with the Solution Technical Lead, you'll be responsible for producing the technical documentation needed to develop, test and transition APIs into BAU support, and you may contribute to wider solution design across the platform.

You'll collaborate across the programme to ensure requirements are translated into working integrations, testing aligns to the strategy, and delivery is tracked against critical path plans.


Responsibilities

  • Produce all temporary and enduring technical documentation required to develop, test and hand over APIs to BAU.
  • Work with Business Analysts to understand inbound/outbound data flows and translate functional designs into RESTful "give/get/post" APIs.
  • Support connectivity and integration testing with Test Managers to meet testing strategy and acceptance criteria for promotion to live.
  • Work with the Technical PM and Project Coordinator to:
    • manage and challenge the development critical path
    • report progress to agreed reporting timeframes
    • identify over/under-utilisation and recommend mitigations
  • Contribute to (or lead) wider full stack development across the programme where new custom functionality or change is required.

Essential Experience

  • 5+ years as a software engineer delivering enterprise-grade applications
  • Strong grasp of OO design principles and patterns
  • Proven experience designing, coding and testing modules against functional requirements
  • Comfortable working across multiple projects and delivering to tight deadlines
  • Experience in a DevOps environment
  • Hands-on Agile delivery: Scrum teams, sprint ceremonies, and agile engineering practices (code reviews, unit testing, TDD)
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) including explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Demonstrable experience delivering system interfaces, particularly API integrations

Technical Skills (Microsoft Stack)

  • C#, ASP.NET MVC, ASP.NET Web API
  • ServiceStack (or similar), Dapper, Entity Framework
  • Strong experience consuming and working with REST API catalogues/tools such as Postman / Swagger / OpenAPI
  • Strong JSON / XML experience
  • Authentication/authorisation patterns: OAuth / OAuth2 / OpenID (Connect)
  • Database design, scripting and optimisation using MS SQL Server (or MySQL)

Qualifications

  • Degree educated (ideally in a technical subject)
