Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Data Warehouse Developer to develop, support, and evolve a critical on-premises Common Data Environment (CDE) within a wider integrated business solution.

The role involves designing, building, testing, supporting, and continuously improving the CDE, ensuring it receives data from multiple internal and external system sources, structures data efficiently, and enables the publication of paginated reports and Power BI dashboards through Azure-integrated services. The platform will support a broad range of management information, reporting, analytics, and business insight requirements across the organisation.

This position requires strong technical expertise in SQL, ETL development, data warehousing, and the Microsoft data platform. The successful candidate will work closely with technical teams, BI/MI leads, analysts, product owners, stakeholders, and third-party suppliers to deliver reliable and scalable data solutions. The role will also contribute to the future data strategy, including potential migration from on-premises environments to cloud-based and SaaS platforms.

Qualifications

Essential

• Hold, have held, or be eligible to obtain CTC Security Clearance.
• Full, clean driving licence.

Desirable

• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related discipline.

Experience and Skills

Essential

• Proven experience developing, deploying, and supporting multi-source SQL data warehouses in on-premises environments.
• Strong experience across the Microsoft Data Platform, including:
  • SQL Server
  • SSIS
  • SSRS
  • SSAS
• Experience creating, documenting, and developing data models that support management information and reporting requirements.
• Experience developing ETL processes that consolidate data from multiple source systems into a centralised data platform.
• Experience designing and developing Data Lakehouse solutions using Microsoft Fabric.
• Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with both technical and business stakeholders.
• Experience producing high-quality technical documentation and maintaining development artefacts.
• Demonstrated leadership capability, including:
  • Understanding emerging technology trends.
  • Translating technical opportunities into business value.
  • Communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Experience working within a second-line technical support environment, troubleshooting issues through root cause analysis and resolution.
• Experience creating and deploying Power BI Paginated Reports within Azure environments.
• Experience developing on-premises data warehouse solutions that integrate with cloud-based services including Azure, Power BI, and SharePoint.
• Experience supporting project and programme management activities, including planning, effort estimation, and progress reporting.

• Experience within Facilities Management (FM) environments.
• Experience developing ETL routines integrating data from operational and asset management systems.
• Experience working with challenging data quality and integrity issues across disparate source systems.
• Experience with VBA and batch scripting (.BAT).

Core Responsibilities and Duties

Data Warehouse Design and Development

• Define and maintain high-level and low-level data models.
• Create ETL designs, specifications, and implementation plans.
• Design, build, test, and optimise data warehouse solutions.
• Develop and maintain data pipelines that integrate multiple source systems.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, security, and performance across the data platform.
• Support the ongoing evolution of the Common Data Environment (CDE).

Reporting and Analytics

• Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and paginated reports.
• Deliver management information solutions that support organisational decision-making.
• Publish reporting solutions through Azure-integrated platforms.
• Support business users and analysts in accessing trusted and timely information.

Product and Technical Strategy

• Support the Data Warehouse Manager and Technical Product Owner in defining the long-term data and reporting strategy.
• Contribute to roadmap planning for cloud adoption, platform modernisation, and SaaS transformation initiatives.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to existing solutions.
• Support technical transformation and mobilisation projects through all phases of delivery.

Service Management and Support

• Provide second-line support for data warehouse and reporting services.
• Investigate incidents and service requests through to resolution.
• Monitor platform performance and proactively identify improvement opportunities.
• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation and operational procedures.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Build strong working relationships with technical teams, business stakeholders, suppliers, and service partners.
• Support the definition and maintenance of an effective Management Information Operating Model.
• Ensure reporting and analytics requirements are captured, prioritised, developed, and delivered through structured and repeatable processes.
• Communicate technical concepts clearly to audiences with varying levels of technical expertise.

Project Delivery

• Support project planning, estimation, scheduling, and progress reporting.
