FAIRS Inspector

About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented FAIRS Inspector to join a growing aerospace manufacturing and quality team based in Titchfield, Hampshire.
In this role, you will be responsible for preparing, reviewing and validating First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) to ensure compliance with aerospace quality standards, customer requirements and regulatory specifications. This position plays a key role in supporting new product introductions, engineering changes and ongoing production activities while maintaining the highest standards of quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) in accordance with AS9102 requirements.
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, models and customer requirements to ensure accurate inspection documentation.
- Conduct dimensional inspections using a range of inspection equipment and measurement techniques.
- Verify product conformity against design requirements and manufacturing documentation.
- Create ballooned drawings and inspection plans to support FAIR activities.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality and Production teams to resolve non-conformances and support corrective actions.
- Support root cause investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain quality records accurately in line with customer, regulatory and business requirements.
- Review supplier FAIR submissions and assist with supplier quality activities where required.
- Support internal, customer and regulatory audits.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience as a FAIRS Inspector, First Article Inspector, Quality Inspector or Mechanical Inspector within the aerospace sector.
- Strong knowledge of AS9102 First Article Inspection requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, GD&T and technical specifications.
- Experience using inspection tools and equipment including micrometers, verniers, gauges, height gauges.
- Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and quality documentation systems.
Skills
- Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing and assembly processes.
- Engineering, Manufacturing or Quality-related qualification preferred.
- Relevant aerospace quality certifications would be advantageous.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Team-oriented approach with a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
