Our client is embarking on one of the UK's most significant sustainability transformation programmes and is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join their growing Net Zero delivery team on a permanent basis
This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in delivering a large-scale programme of decarbonisation projects, helping to drive the organisation's sustainability strategy and achieve ambitious Net Zero targets. With a portfolio of projects valued at approximately £300m-£400m over the coming years, this role offers genuine long-term career development and the chance to make a measurable environmental impact.
The Role
As Project Manager, you will lead the delivery of a range of sustainability and carbon reduction initiatives focused on reducing Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions. Working within a complex operational environment, you will manage projects from concept through to completion, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in line with strategic objectives.
You will collaborate with internal stakeholders, external consultants, contractors, and programme leaders to successfully deliver a varied portfolio of infrastructure, engineering, energy, and sustainability projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end delivery of sustainability and decarbonisation projects.
- Develop and maintain project plans, budgets, schedules, and resource requirements.
- Lead multidisciplinary project teams and coordinate external suppliers and contractors.
- Monitor project performance, risks, issues, and dependencies.
- Ensure robust governance, reporting, and project controls are in place.
- Support the delivery of Net Zero objectives through innovative and effective project execution.
- Manage stakeholder relationships across all levels of the organisation.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to the successful delivery of a substantial capital investment programme.
About You
We are keen to speak with experienced Project Managers who have successfully delivered complex infrastructure, engineering, energy, utilities, or sustainability projects.
You will possess:
- Proven project management experience within large-scale programmes or capital projects.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience managing budgets, schedules, risks, and project governance.
- A track record of delivering projects in complex operational environments.
- Excellent organisational and leadership capabilities.
- A proactive approach with the ability to drive projects through to successful completion.
Desirable Experience
- Experience of Net Zero, sustainability, carbon reduction, or energy transition projects.
- Knowledge of Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions reduction initiatives.
- Background in aviation, transport, infrastructure, utilities, construction, or other regulated sectors.
- Professional qualifications such as APM PMQ, PRINCE2, PMP, or equivalent.
