Our client, a leader in the automotive sector, is currently seeking a Senior Controls Software Engineer to join their dynamic team on a contract basis. This role involves working on the development of Inverter and Motor Control, Battery Management System (BMS), and Charging application software for demonstrator and production projects. You will play a pivotal role in all stages of the software development process, mentor junior engineers, participate in project estimations and planning, and collaborate with clients, suppliers, and other engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical delivery and leadership of application software activities
  • Support and mentor junior engineers within the team
  • Create and manage software requirements
  • Participate in the architectural design of the software
  • Implement and test the application software using a model-based development approach
  • Support prototype vehicle builds, calibration, and development
  • Diagnose and identify integration issues with other products in the vehicle
  • Report progress and status to project teams

Job Requirements:

  • A degree or equivalent in software or controls engineering discipline
  • Experience in automotive control systems, especially in Inverter/Motor Control, BMS, and DC/AC Charging applications
  • Proficiency in fault finding and diagnosis in complex automotive powertrain systems
  • Understanding of electrical and electronic circuits
  • Comfortable working closely with clients, often on-site at client or test locations
  • Advanced user of MATLAB/Simulink toolchain
  • Familiarity with CAN-based calibration and monitoring tools like CANape/INCA and CANalyzer
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications


Additional experience and understanding of the interaction between application and base software, and proficiency in C programming language, would be highly beneficial.
