The Role

Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the Planning Manager will take a lead role in overseeing and driving all project planning activities across major Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) projects throughout Ireland, the UK, and mainland Europe.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, managing, and overseeing all project programmes, ensuring accurate progress reporting, meticulous critical path analysis, and clear communication with key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Programme Development: Establish, maintain, and manage highly detailed project schedules utilizing Primavera P6 and/or MS Project.

  • Baseline & Scheduling: Formulate robust baseline programmes and manage subsequent schedule updates as projects progress.

  • Analysis & Forecasting: Conduct comprehensive critical path analysis, resource loading, and forecasting to ensure project milestones are met.

  • Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify programme risks and construct strategic mitigation plans to keep delivery on track.

  • Reporting: Generate clear, data-driven weekly and monthly progress reports for the senior leadership team.

  • Commercial Support: Assist commercial teams with complex delay analyses and robust Extension of Time (EoT) submissions.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Present confident, accurate programme updates to both internal delivery teams and external clients or stakeholders.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely alongside project, engineering, commercial, and site-based teams to ensure project alignment.

  • Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and support the professional growth of junior planning staff within the department.

  • Process Improvement: Implement industry best-practice planning processes and continually improve internal project controls.

Candidate Profile

Essential Requirements:

  • 10+ years of planning experience within a construction or MEP environment.

  • Advanced, hands-on expertise in Primavera P6 is essential.

  • A proven track record of delivering complex, high-value projects.

  • Strong leadership capabilities with experience managing or mentoring planning teams.

  • A deep understanding of project controls, risk management, and the ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • A degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.

Desirable Attributes:

  • Specific experience delivering large-scale, complex MEP projects.

  • PMI-SP (Project Management Institute Scheduling Professional) or a similar professional certification.
