Our client is seeking an experienced Transport Modeller to support a growing pipeline of strategic transport planning and modelling projects. The successful candidate will have strong experience in strategic transport modelling, particularly using PTV VISUM, with additional experience in SATURN highly desirable.
This is a flexible contract opportunity operating outside IR35, ideally suited to an independent consultant who can provide their own software licence(s). The role can be undertaken remotely, although candidates are welcome to work from or visit the office if preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain and calibrate strategic transport models.
- Undertake transport modelling and forecasting to support a range of transport planning projects.
- Use VISUM to build, update and analyse strategic highway and multi-modal transport models.
- Carry out network coding, validation and scenario testing.
- Support demand forecasting, future year modelling and scheme appraisal activities.
- Analyse modelling outputs and provide clear technical interpretation of results.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations and client deliverables.
- Collaborate with transport planners, engineers and project stakeholders to support project delivery.
Essential Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Transport Modeller within a consultancy, local authority or related environment.
- Strong hands-on experience with PTV VISUM.
- Experience in strategic transport modelling and forecasting.
- Knowledge of model development, calibration and validation processes.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload with minimal supervision.
- Excellent analytical and technical reporting skills.
Desirable Requirements:
- Experience using SATURN.
- Experience working on UK transport planning and appraisal projects.
- Familiarity with DfT guidance, WebTAG and transport modelling best practice.
- Experience working as an independent consultant or contractor.
- Ownership of relevant software licences (VISUM and/or SATURN).
