The Role

On behalf of our client, we are currently recruiting an experienced ELV Lead / BMS Controls Engineer to join a major data centre project team in Northumberland. In this key technical role, you will take full ownership of managing the delivery, site coordination, and commissioning of all BMS and Extra Low Voltage (ELV) systems through to final handover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Package Management: Drive the end-to-end delivery of BMS and ELV packages, overseeing everything from initial site installation through to final commissioning and client sign-off.

  • Design & Technical Coordination: Chair dedicated BMS technical workshops between the design team and controls providers, progressing design queries and reviewing drawings, RFIs, and submittals.

  • Vendor & Site Liaison: Serve as the primary technical point of contact for system vendors, proactively resolving on-site issues and ensuring third-party commissioning activities stay strictly on schedule.

  • Daily Site Alignment: Represent the controls package at daily coordination meetings and operational briefings.

  • Testing & Quality Assurance: Review Level 3 testing outputs (including system performance data and screenshots) and inspect finished installations to ensure full QA/QC compliance.

  • Commissioning Documentation: Manage, track, and upload all relevant commissioning records and RAG status updates to the digital commissioning portal.

  • Stakeholder Meetings: Participate actively in commissioning reviews, client updates, and vendor strategy meetings.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Education & Background: Qualified in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, Controls Engineering, or a related field.

  • Sector Experience: Proven experience delivering BMS/ELV systems on large-scale construction, data centre, or mission-critical projects.

  • Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of Building Automation Systems (BAS), controls integration, technical schematics, and commissioning workflows.

  • Vendor Coordination: Demonstrated ability to manage multi-vendor environments and interpret complex technical submittals.

  • Communication: Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
