Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced QA/QC Lead to join a dynamic project team based in Blyth, UK. In this key role, you will take full ownership of quality assurance and quality control for all mechanical works, ensuring everything is executed in line with strict project specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance Implementation: Oversee and drive QA/QC procedures throughout the entire project lifecycle.
Mechanical Standards & Compliance: Ensure all mechanical installations-including HVAC, piping, and related services-comply with project drawings, specifications, and industry best practices.
Inspections & Audits: Conduct rigorous site inspections and closely monitor subcontractor performance against quality benchmarks.
Documentation & Approval: Review and approve Method Statements, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), technical submittals, and keep meticulous quality reports.
Issue Resolution: Record, track, and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), ensuring prompt root-cause analysis and corrective action.
Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise directly with construction teams, sub-contractors, and engineering consultants during site meetings and quality reviews.
Commissioning & Handover: Support the final commissioning phase by verifying that all QA/QC documentation is fully compliant and managing mechanical snagging close-outs.
Process Improvement: Champion a culture of continuous improvement across all quality and compliance standards.
Essential Requirements & Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
Experience: Minimum of 3+ years' hands-on experience in a dedicated QA/QC role within mechanical construction.
Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of mechanical systems (HVAC, piping, process systems), QA/QC processes, and ITP frameworks.
Skills: Strong attention to detail, proactive problem-solving, and clear communication abilities to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Sector Experience: Prior exposure to data centres, mission-critical infrastructure, or large-scale industrial projects is highly advantageous.
