We are currently seeking a Pipe Inspector for a 4 month Fixed term contract based in Port Glasgow. This role involves supporting the inspection, testing, and commissioning of piping systems onboard vessels, ensuring installations meet required quality standards and delivery milestones.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate health & safety competencies relevant to the role, including working at height and in confined spaces
- Drive a right-first-time approach for installation activities and sign-off in collaboration with Production teams
- Support the Quality Manager with inspection of pipe systems in accordance with approved drawings and contractual standards
- Liaise with production teams to identify and resolve defects prior to official pipe testing
- Patrol and monitor vessel installations to ensure compliance with approved piping system requirements
- Produce inspection reports and follow up actions through to completion
- Support the creation and maintenance of survey procedures, standards, and forms within quality management systems
- Ensure the safe operation, maintenance, and calibration of testing and inspection equipment
Job Requirements:
- Demonstrable experience in ship piping system installations
- Knowledge of defect assessment against acceptance and rejection criteria, including applicable standards, specifications, and classification society rules
- Understanding of right-first-time principles to minimise rework and quality defects in ship piping system operations
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with operational teams and stakeholders
- Ability to read and interpret P&ID drawings
- Experience using Navisworks and AutoCAD packages
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications
Qualifications & Experience:
- Time served Pipe Fitter
- Experience in the installation, inspection, testing, and commissioning of piping systems
- Sound knowledge of marine codes, standards, and regulations
- High levels of integrity, professionalism, and accountability
- Team player with a willingness to support colleagues when required
Salary & hours of work
- £44,078 Pro ratad (4 months fixed term contract)
- Monday to Thursday 0645 - 1615
