Our client, a leader in the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking a Lead Aerodynamicist to join their team in Warton on a 12-month contract basis. This position involves working full time on-site with a standard 37-hour working week. The role falls inside IR35 and requires BPSS & Full SC - ITAR clearance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading aerodynamic analysis and design activities for defence and security projects
- Conducting wind tunnel testing, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations, and aerodynamic performance assessments
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to integrate aerodynamic solutions into broader project objectives
- Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members
- Preparing detailed reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders
- Ensuring all aerodynamic work aligns with industry standards and regulatory requirements
- Participating in design reviews and providing expert insights on aerodynamic implications
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of aerodynamic methodologies and tools
Job Requirements:
- Extensive experience in aerodynamics within the Defence & Security sector
- Strong understanding and application of fluid dynamics principles and CFD software
- Proven track record of conducting wind tunnel tests and interpreting data
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Relevant degree in aerodynamics, aerospace engineering, or a related field
