Rigger (Turnaround Project) - Fawley Oil Refinery, Southampton
Location: Fawley Oil Refinery, Southampton, Hampshire
Duration: 9 Weeks (Turnaround Event)
Start Date: 14th September
Hours: 60 hours per week (6 x 10-hour shifts)
Shift Pattern: Sunday to Friday
Rates:
Monday - Friday: £42.75/hr CIS
Sunday: £76/hr CIS

About the Opportunity
We are currently recruiting experienced Riggers to support a major Turnaround project at Fawley Oil Refinery near Southampton. This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-profile shutdown team on a 9-week project within one of the UK's largest and most complex refinery environments.
Successful candidates will work as part of a professional lifting and rigging team, carrying out rigging operations safely and efficiently in accordance with site procedures and industry best practice.
Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out rigging and lifting activities in support of turnaround maintenance works.
  • Install, inspect and remove lifting equipment and rigging gear.
  • Assist with planned lifting operations under the direction of appointed lifting personnel.
  • Ensure all lifting activities are completed safely and in accordance with site regulations.
  • Conduct pre-use inspections of lifting accessories and equipment.
  • Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary shutdown team.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and safety compliance at all times.

Essential Requirements

  • NVQ Level 3 Rigger qualification/certification or equivalent.
  • Valid CCNSG Safety Passport (or recognised equivalent).
  • Valid UK work authorisation with the right to work in the UK.
  • Previous experience working on refinery, petrochemical, oil & gas, power generation, or industrial turnaround/shutdown projects.
  • Strong understanding of lifting operations and safe working practices.
  • Ability to work safely in a high-hazard industrial environment.

Desirable

  • Previous experience at refinery turnaround events.
  • Additional lifting, banksman/slinger or confined space qualifications.
  • Knowledge of refinery permit-to-work systems.
