Commerical Manager - 6 month contract - Portsmouth, Hampshire - £66.63 ph UMB or £49.38ph PAYE (Inside IR35)

The Umbrella rate quoted above is the Gross Umbrella rate (i.e. the rate we pay to the Umbrella Company inclusive of ALL employment costs). Please note, the rate paid by the Umbrella will be less, as will a Limited Deemed rate or Agency PAYE rate. Please get in touch to discuss the rates via these different payment vehicles.

The Role

This role is the Commercial lead for the Hunter programme within Combat Systems. The role holder will primarily be managing a challenging commercial landscape with our Australian customer, BAESMA. The project is hugely important for BAE Systems and it is important for Combat Systems to be on the front foot with our role in this wider programme.

The role holder will need to ensure robust commercial management, working across business boundaries to manage dependencies across contracts. Stakeholder management, managing strategic priorities, reporting and effective contact management are key to ensuring Core activities are completed and contractual obligations are adhered to. The role holder is expected to have the capability and experience to be autonomous and provide strong commercial advice and guidance to the team, manage change, and support other commercial colleagues who will be working on the Hunter programme, adjacent programmes and their impact, contract through TAFs, as well as manage the Commercial governance and key priorities. The role holder will focus on augmenting their experience and understanding of the commercial role to manage and deliver specific tasks, provide support to operations and offer guidance and support for the development of individuals in more junior roles.

Role Responsibilities:

Not limited to…

  • Working autonomously, providing commercial guidance and leadership to the Hunter project team and working closely with other projects to ensure cross project dependencies support Hunter outcomes and avoids operational, financial or reputational impact.
  • Managing the BAESMA customer relationship, in a partnered and clear manner. Leading on a customer relationship plan to improve ways of working, set boundaries, agree obligations and build trust with the customer.
  • Supporting with key tasks such as document marking, IP and dependency management across programmes, obligations management and priority setting.
  • Be the commercial approver for TAFs, ensuring clearly bound requirements, AEDs and favourable terms.
  • Managing the commercial aspects of contract change and business winning, including ownership of the RBA process and commercial management plans.
  • Being the focal point for resolution of project issues including provision of commercial guidance to maximise profit and minimise risk.

What are BAE Systems looking for from you?

  • Degree educated in law/ a business adjacent field, and or with a minimum of 5 years recent experience and proven track record in a commercial front facing operational role

Security Requirements: SC

This role will require you to hold or be eligible to obtain Security Clearance (SC). You will need to obtain a BPSS check as part of this process. You must be eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship and have lived and worked in the UK for a minimum 5 year period.
