Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) Manager

Our client, a global leader in advanced defence and security systems, is seeking an experienced Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) Manager to join their Customer Support & Services team. This exciting permanent opportunity involves leading and delivering ILS activities for both domestic and international customers across two in-service systems.
The role will require influencing system design and developing support solutions to ensure effective through-life support of products upon entry into service. The position offers hybrid working, with 2-3 days per week in the office based in Hertfordshire.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of ILS strategies and plans in line with customer and contractual requirements.
- Manage ILS activities across the full lifecycle, including concept, design, manufacture, and in-service support.
- Develop a robust Through-Life Support Policy.
- Ensure compliance with relevant ASD S-Series standards, including S1000D, S2000M, S3000L, S4000P, S5000F, DefStan 00-600, and current MOD ILS standards.
- Oversee Logistics Support Analysis (LSA), maintenance task analysis, spares modelling and provisioning, support equipment development, training, and technical documentation.
- Act as the primary ILS point of contact for customers and key stakeholders.
- Oversee delivery of support equipment within the UK and internationally.
- Support bid and proposal activities, including ILS costing and risk assessments.
- Manage and mentor ILS practitioners within the programme or functional team.
- Ensure ILS risks, assumptions, and dependencies are identified and managed effectively.
Requirements
- Proven experience in an ILS, Supportability, or Through-Life Support role within the defence, aerospace, or highly regulated engineering sector.
- Broad-based engineering background, preferably degree qualified or equivalent in a technical discipline.
- Strong working knowledge of ASD S-Series ILS standards and their practical application.
- Experience working with MOD customers and major engineering organisations is desirable.
- Ability to influence multidisciplinary teams and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience supporting bids and proposals.
- Strong prioritisation skills with the ability to manage multiple competing demands.
- Ability to lead teams, plan strategically, and ensure delivery against commitments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders.
