Our client, a leading consultancy in the construction and rail sector, is currently seeking a Principal Electrical Design Engineer to join their team in London on a contract basis. This position involves working on the prestigious HS2 project, with our client acting as the design partner for BBV on OOC. This role is outside IR35 and offers a 6-12 month engagement with significant responsibilities in the design of M&E systems in a tunnels environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Production and approval of design concepts, drawings, specifications, and other technical documents
- Establishment of internal design standards and processes to achieve continuous improvement in quality and efficiency
- Collaborating within project teams to achieve project objectives
- Supervising and approving the work of others, and signing off design certificates
- Preparing, checking, and approving feasibility studies and detailed design technical reports
- Implementing effective and innovative design solutions to meet technical and project requirements
- Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation, particularly CDM regulations
- Managing project-related correspondence effectively
Job Requirements:
- Experience in leading electrical services design within the built environment or transport infrastructure
- Understanding of multi-disciplinary issues associated with E&P and/or the built environment
- Previous experience in delivering electrical design packages for railway and/or highways tunnel environments
- Familiarity with contract conditions, processes, and procedures
- Proficiency in programming, delivery, budgets, and timescales
- Knowledge in the application of safety standards and CDM regulations
- Experience in line management
- Knowledgeable in relevant design software
- Relevant degree and membership of a professional body, such as ICE, IET, IMechE
- Professionally qualified Chartered Engineer
