Our tier one Water contractor client is seeking several Managing Quantity Surveyors to support on Thames Water framework clean and wastewater infrastructure projects across London on a permanent basis with hybrid working considered.
Projects will include but not be limited to working on: water main replacements, truck mains, pumping stations, sewer rehab, wastewater network improvements, pipeline renewals and other capital works.
London office locations include: Esher, Rickmansworth and Sidcup
Responsibilities
- Lead valuations, contract administration and change management across a portfolio of projects.
- You'll be responsible for maximising value through applications for payment, variations and change events, ensuring submissions are accurate, timely and fully supported.
- Working closely with operational teams, you'll provide commercial guidance, manage disputes and support robust cashflow, certification and payment processes.
- Driving commercial performance through effective cost and value management.
- You'll oversee commercial reporting, CVRs, WIP, accruals and forecasting, ensuring alignment between project costs, contract value and margin performance.
- You'll also manage subcontract administration, build strong supply chain relationships and identify opportunities to maximise commercial recovery across your projects.
- As a senior member of the team, you'll promote best practice, support monthly reporting and provide leadership and development to commercial colleagues.
- You'll maintain accurate records, contractual notices and risk registers, ensuring compliance and strong governance while providing valuable insight into project risks, opportunities and overall performance.
Skills/experience/qualifications
- Proven experience in a Quantity Surveying role within the construction or infrastructure sector.
- Strong understanding of commercial processes, cost management and contract administration.
- Working knowledge of NEC3 and/or NEC4 contracts.
- Strong numerical, analytical and financial reporting skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and commercial management systems.
- Experience supporting subcontract management and supply chain activities.
- Ability to identify, manage and escalate commercial risks and opportunities.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with confidence to challenge when required
- Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Desirable: previous experience working with Thames Water / water utility companies
