Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Clerk of Works/ NEC Supervisor to join their team on a contract basis. This position is pivotal to ensuring various capital improvement projects across Hampshire are delivered to the highest standards in compliance with NEC4 supervision requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring and ensuring construction works comply with contract specifications and road adoption standards.
  • Relaying instructions to contractors, subject to written confirmation by the NEC4 Project Manager or Supervisor.
  • Informing the NEC4 Project Manager, Supervisor, or inspector of work progress and arising issues.
  • Resolving minor design issues with contractors and reporting them as necessary.
  • Taking and agreeing measurements, labour and plant returns, and maintaining detailed diaries and records on day works, claims, and related matters.
  • Liaising with contractors, developers, Statutory Authorities, Police, and the public to resolve queries and practical site problems.
  • Maintaining a strong focus on Health & Safety throughout all project phases.
  • Addressing sustainability issues during the construction process.

Job Requirements:

  • RQF level 3 or equivalent experience in Civil Engineering and Highways projects.
  • Extensive experience in the construction of Civil Engineering and Highways projects.
  • Strong knowledge of statutory regulations, including chapter 8 TSM, NRSWA, and Health & Safety regulations.
  • Proven ability to assess and interpret contract documents and drawings effectively.
  • Capability to prioritise workload across multiple concurrent schemes.
  • Ability to determine when to seek assistance or report issues.
  • Driver's licence (category B) required due to travel requirements.

Working Conditions:

  • Site-based role with the provision of a site office or central office location.
  • Work on live highways and construction sites, including lone working scenarios.
  • Regular communication with colleagues, contractors, and developers in challenging environments.
  • Commitment to fulfilling travel requirements associated with the role.
