Our client, a public sector organisation within the highways and infrastructure sector, is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to support its Environment and Highways Directorate. This contract role will contribute to the commercial management and delivery of highway maintenance and engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing quantity surveying activities across highways maintenance and infrastructure projects
  • Preparing cost estimates, budgets, valuations and commercial reports
  • Monitoring project expenditure, forecasting costs and identifying commercial risks
  • Managing changes, variations, compensation events and payment applications
  • Supporting procurement and contract administration in line with relevant procedures
  • Reviewing contractor performance, project costs and compliance with contractual requirements
  • Working closely with project managers, engineers, contractors and other stakeholders
  • Maintaining accurate commercial records and providing clear financial advice

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in quantity surveying within the highways, civil engineering or infrastructure sector
  • Strong understanding of highways maintenance, construction costs and commercial processes
  • Knowledge of contract administration, procurement and change control procedures
  • Ability to prepare and analyse budgets, forecasts, valuations and financial reports
  • Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Good attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Relevant quantity surveying, commercial management or construction qualification is desirable
