Our client, a public sector organisation within the highways and infrastructure sector, is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to support its Environment and Highways Directorate. This contract role will contribute to the commercial management and delivery of highway maintenance and engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing quantity surveying activities across highways maintenance and infrastructure projects
- Preparing cost estimates, budgets, valuations and commercial reports
- Monitoring project expenditure, forecasting costs and identifying commercial risks
- Managing changes, variations, compensation events and payment applications
- Supporting procurement and contract administration in line with relevant procedures
- Reviewing contractor performance, project costs and compliance with contractual requirements
- Working closely with project managers, engineers, contractors and other stakeholders
- Maintaining accurate commercial records and providing clear financial advice
Job Requirements:
- Experience in quantity surveying within the highways, civil engineering or infrastructure sector
- Strong understanding of highways maintenance, construction costs and commercial processes
- Knowledge of contract administration, procurement and change control procedures
- Ability to prepare and analyse budgets, forecasts, valuations and financial reports
- Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Good attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Relevant quantity surveying, commercial management or construction qualification is desirable
