Site Supervisor - Highways Maintenance

Rate: £325 per day CIS
Role Purpose
We are seeking an experienced Site Supervisor to support the delivery of a busy Highways Maintenance Contract in Hereford. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day site operations, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with programme and quality requirements. You will play a key role in coordinating labour, plant, materials, and subcontractors while maintaining strong relationships with the client and wider project team.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily site activities across highways maintenance and improvement schemes.
- Ensure all works are delivered safely and in compliance with health, safety, quality, and environmental requirements.
- Coordinate gangs, plant, materials, and subcontractors to maximise productivity and programme performance.
- Ensure Construction Phase Plans, Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and Safe Systems of Work are in place and briefed before works commence.
- Monitor workforce performance and resource utilisation, providing support and direction where required.
- Ensure all site personnel are competent, inducted, and trained for the works being undertaken.
- Liaise with clients, commercial teams, designers, and other stakeholders to resolve site issues and maintain programme delivery.
- Maintain accurate site records, including diaries, progress reports, labour allocations, and as-built information.
- Support the preparation of Health & Safety files and project completion documentation.
- Assist with construction planning, buildability reviews, traffic management requirements, TTRO applications, and road space bookings.
- Promote a positive safety culture and ensure compliance with all company procedures and industry regulations.
Requirements
- Experience supervising highways maintenance, highways improvement, or civil engineering projects.
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and CDM regulations.
- Experience managing site operatives, subcontractors, and resources.
- Understanding of Traffic Management and road space booking processes.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.

- NRSWA (desirable)
