Interim Head of Finance
Location: Wimborne
Contract Length: Minimum 6 months
Day Rate: £500 - £650
Overview
An opportunity for an experienced Interim Head of Finance to join a well-established business based in Wimborne. This role has been created to provide leadership, stability and continuity whilst the business goes through a period of change.
The successful candidate will take ownership of the day-to-day finance function, ensuring a smooth month-end process, supporting the wider finance team and driving improvements across finance operations following a period of change within the team.
This is a hands-on leadership role rather than a heavily strategic position, requiring someone comfortable rolling up their sleeves and getting involved in the detail when needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support the finance team across AP, AR, Project Accounting and Management Accounts.
- Own the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes.
- Review and approve journals, reconciliations and month-end reporting.
- Manage the annual budgeting process and monthly forecasting cycles.
- Analyse actual performance against forecast and budget, identifying risks and opportunities.
- Oversee payroll approval.
- Support the preparation and management of the rolling 15-month forecast.
- Review existing finance processes and implement improvements where appropriate.
- Provide leadership, stability and direction to the finance team during an interim period.
- Ensure robust financial controls and reporting standards are maintained.
Candidate Profile
- Experienced Head of Finance, Financial Controller or Finance Director level contractor.
- Strong track record of managing month-end and financial reporting processes.
- Comfortable operating in a hands-on environment and getting involved in the detail.
- Proven experience stabilising teams and improving finance functions during periods of change.
- Strong business improvement and process improvement experience.
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Candidates must be from from a project-based environment.
